Pick up more hours at the job you already have

If you have a job already, then you may want to see if you can work overtime to make the extra $300 that you need.

This can be one of the easiest ways to make an extra $300 because you already know and understand your work tasks – you’ll just be adding more hours to your schedule.

Sell your stuff

If you want to make $300 fast, then selling items can be a great way to do that.

This may include finding items around your home to sell online or even looking for items at yard sales, thrift shops, and items that someone may have thrown away.

Items that you can sell include clothes, DVDs, video games, an old cell phone, jewelry, furniture, and more.

Here’s how to make $300 selling items:

Go through the stuff you already own. Look for items you no longer need or want, such as clothing, electronics, home goods, or collectibles.

Price your items. Research the value of the items that you want to sell and price them competitively. Consider things such as the condition of the item (is it like new, or is it in bad condition?), how old the item is, and the brand name.

Decide on a selling platform. You can sell items on websites such as Facebook buy/sell groups, Poshmark, Decluttr, Craigslist, and eBay. Or, you can sell items at thrift stores or by hosting a yard sale.

Take good pictures of the item. Make sure the item you want to sell looks its best by taking nonblurry pictures that show the item well.

Write a description of the item you are wanting to sell. If you are selling the item online, such as on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist, then you will want to include a description so that people know what they are potentially buying. Plus, it can help the search engines list your item better. Include relevant details about the item in your description, such as size, color, age, brand name, and the condition of the item.

By following these steps and putting in the time and effort to sell your items, you can make $300 or more depending on the items you’re selling and the demand for them.

Sign up for quick Craigslist jobs

Your local Craigslist can be a way to make $300 fast, as there are many quick gigs available.

The Craigslist gigs section is an area on Craigslist that lists short-term opportunities to make extra money.

To find Craigslist gigs in your local area, simply go to Craigslist and look for the “gigs” section. Some Craigslist gigs that I have found in the past include helping build an RV, moving furniture, helping mow lawns, private music lessons, dog walking, pet sitting, house cleaning, night nannying, and more.

Keep in mind that some Craigslist gigs may pay less than others, and competition for certain gigs can be high. Be persistent and professional in your job search, and focus on gigs that match your skills and interests. Also remember, with Craigslist (and many other job websites), you want to avoid scams. If something seems too good to be true, then skip it and look for something else. For example, no one is going to pay you $2,000 to complete a mystery shop or answer a 30-minute survey.

Answer questions in a focus group

A focus group is when someone asks you questions over the phone or on a video call about a company, service, product, or something else. Companies such as Home Depot, Pinterest, Macy’s, Spotify, and more all use online focus groups to get feedback from people like you and me.

They may want to know what you think of a company, for example, or they may be interested in how they can improve a process. You should be prepared to participate fully when taking part in a focus group, which means paying attention to the questions, as well as providing honest and detailed feedback to the interviewer.

I have done focus groups before, and one not too long ago paid me $450 for just 75 minutes of my time. It was a one-on-one interview with just me and the interviewer in a video interview, and the questions were simply just wanting my opinion on their product.

While $450 is much higher than typical focus group rates, they generally pay between $50 to $100, or sometimes more, for each hour of your time.

A company that I recommend using to find focus groups is User Interviews. Learn more about this website in my User Interviews Review.

Walk dogs and pet sit

If you enjoy being around animals and are looking to earn $300 quickly, then finding pet sitting and dog walking jobs may be for you.

Pet sitters make anywhere from $25 to over $100 per day. I have personally paid $100 per night to a pet sitter for her to watch our dogs in her home.

Pet sitters and dog walkers may watch pets in the owner’s home, or in their own home. You may be walking dogs, feeding pets and filling their water bowls, playing with pets, giving them medicine, and more.

If you don’t have experience in looking after pets but this is something that you want to start doing, consider taking a dog training or a pet care course. This will give you the skills and knowledge necessary to provide quality care to the pets that you look after.

If you are looking for a company to get started with, I recommend Rover. This is the website I have used many times in the past to find dog sitters, and I have family members and friends who list their pet sitting services on this website as well.

Rent out baby items, such as a crib

Parents rent baby items all the time, such as when they are traveling. When traveling, families don’t typically like to lug all of the different and heavy items with them, such as a crib, car seat, or a high chair.

If you have baby items, you may be able to rent them out online. One website that allows you to do this is called BabyQuip.

The average person on BabyQuip can earn around $1,000 a month, and some even earn over $10,000 each month.

You don’t need a lot of stuff to get started either. BabyQuip says you can start with as little as just one crib, which is their most commonly rented item. Makes sense, as this is an item most parents don’t like to bring with them on a plane as they are typically quite big.

Items that can be rented on BabyQuip include cribs, strollers, car seats, high chairs, toys, bouncers, books, hiking packs, and so much more.

BabyQuip is available to those in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Australia, or New Zealand.

Rent out your attic or driveway

Do you have an unused garage, driveway, basement, closet, shed, or even an attic? If so, then you may be able to rent out this unused space to people who are looking to store their belongings, such as a car or boxes.

A website that allows you to easily rent out your unused storage space is Neighbor. It is kind of like Airbnb, but just to store stuff, not people. On this website, you get to decide your storage rate, as well as accept or reject the reservations you want.

You can sign up for Neighbor and list your space here.

Blog

Blogging won’t allow you to make $300 the same day you start because it does take time to start a blog. However, eventually, you may be able to build a blog that can earn you $300 a day one day in the future.

So, what is a blog?

A blog is a website that consists of articles, just like this one that you are currently reading.

You can blog about personal finance, like I do, or you can write about recipes, travel, pet care, raising a family, and anything else. There are many different types of blogs that exist.

You can monetize a blog with sponsored partnerships with companies, advertising, affiliate marketing, and even selling a product on your blog (such as an ebook, candle, T-shirt, and more).

Remember that making $300 a day from a blog takes time and effort, and it’s important to provide value to your readers and build a loyal following. It may take months or even years to achieve this goal, but with dedication and hard work, it may be possible for you to make a full-time income with a blog that you create.

You can learn how to start a blog with my free How To Start a Blog Course (sign up by clicking here).

Other ways to make money similar to this include starting a YouTube channel and making money on TikTok.

Proofread

As a proofreader, you would be looking for things such as misspelled words and punctuation mistakes in articles, blog posts, advertisements, résumés, newsletters, and more.

Proofreaders are needed for all sorts of things, and they are hired by companies and people all the time because there is such a big demand.

You can work from home as well, as you typically only need a computer and internet!

You may be able to find potential proofreading clients on job boards like Upwork or Fiverr, or by networking with those that you know. You can also share your proofreading services on social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter.

Freelance write

A freelance writer can earn $300 in one day. It may take some time to build up your client base, but it is very possible.

A freelance writer may write for many different types of clients, such as a website, magazine, marketing department, book publisher, and more. You may be writing articles, blog posts for SEO, marketing content, newsletters, press releases, and so much more.

Rent out your unused RV

Many households have an RV that they do not use all the time. If this is you, then you can rent it out and earn anywhere from $100 to $300, or even more, each day.

And, yes, people and families rent RVs all the time so that they can travel and go on a road trip.

A great platform to use to rent out your RV is RVshare. It’s like Airbnb, but it’s just for RVs that you can drive. RVshare is a site where you can list your RV for rent, and they also handle all payments and bookings to make it as easy as possible for you.

Another idea is to rent out your RV in a campsite, and treat it more like an Airbnb. This way, no one is actually driving your RV.

Rent out your car

You may be able to make a side income by renting out your car.

I have used Turo a few times personally in the last few months, and it is easy to use. People like you and me can rent out their cars to earn extra cash.

For me, I enjoyed renting cars from Turo because you’re able to easily rent cars that you may typically not find at the big brand rental car companies, such as Teslas, Ford Broncos, and luxury vehicles. Also, someone may want a long-term rental deal, and Turo may be able to offer that to them. Another positive of renting on Turo is that you may be able to have the car dropped off right where you are, which can save you valuable time when you are on vacation.

For your first completed rental, Turo pays you around 3 days after your car is returned to you. After that, you are paid 3 hours after the rental has ended. If the rental is more than a week long, then you receive your payments weekly from Turo.

Drive for a ride-sharing service

Sign up to drive for a ride-sharing service like Uber or Lyft to earn money quickly by giving rides to passengers.

To make $300 quickly with Uber:

You may want to drive during peak hours when demand is high. This may be on weekend nights, during rush hour, or when there are busy events in your city.

You can also maximize your earnings by being strategic with your location and this may include being in your car in high-demand areas where there are plenty of riders, such as near popular restaurants, bars, or events.

Uber also sometimes has bonuses for drivers who meet certain criteria, such as completing a certain number of rides or driving during certain times. (For example, sometimes Uber has a bonus where a driver can earn an extra $10, on top of what you earn, for completing 3 rides in a row during rush hour.) Keep an eye out for these promotions to increase your earnings.

You will need a car, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.

Deliver groceries

Delivering groceries is a popular side hustle as you simply need a valid driver’s license and a car.

You are paid per order, get to keep all of your tips, and you can earn around $15 to $20 per hour on platforms such as Instacart and Shipt.

Grocery delivery is a service that will continue to grow, as more and more people are using it. Personally, I have used it many times, as sometimes I either do not have the time to shop, or I am in a place where I do not have a car available.

Get a roommate

If you have a spare room in your home, you may want to consider renting it out on platforms like Airbnb or finding a long-term roommate to earn extra cash.

On a long-term room rental, you can most likely easily earn $300, or even much more, depending on the room you are renting and the location.

I have had a few roommates in the past when I owned a house, and it was a good source of income. Plus, we had the extra space anyway.

Renting out a spare room on Airbnb on a short-term basis can most likely earn you more money. But there will be more work involved as the person who is staying in your spare room will constantly be changing, which means keeping up with bookings, cleaning the room between guests, and so on.

Sell on Amazon

Yes, you can sell items on Amazon.

When you buy something from Amazon, you are often buying it from a person running a small business from home.

One way is Amazon FBA.

You can find your own things to sell, from household items to clothes, games, electronics, and more.

You then send the items you want to sell to an Amazon fulfillment warehouse. Amazon stores the item for you until it sells on Amazon. You don’t even have to ship the item that sells – the Amazon warehouse puts the items that have sold into a box and they even send the purchase to the customer directly.

I recommend reading How To Sell Items On Amazon FBA, where I interview someone who does this as a full-time job. This blog post will help you decide which items to sell and tell you how much money you can earn by selling items on Amazon.

Start an online store

If you want to start your own online store, instead of selling on Amazon, that is very possible as well.

With an online store of your own, you can decide what you want to sell. This may include clothes, jewelry, car gear, pet care items, printables, planners, fishing supplies, and more.

There are an endless amount of things you can decide to sell.

Create printables to sell

Selling printables is a popular side hustle these days, as many people around the world buy printables for all sorts of reasons.

Printable examples include shopping checklists, planners, debt payoff trackers, workbooks, coloring pages, and more.

One great thing about printables is that you aren’t actually printing anything out yourself to ship to anyone. Instead, the customer is simply paying for the design, and they print it out themselves.

You can learn more at How I Make Money Selling Printables On Etsy.

Sell items on Etsy

Etsy is a popular online marketplace where people from around the world buy and sell items such as craft supplies, homemade goods such as soap, jewelry, clothing, greeting cards, wedding invitations, and more.

The products that you sell on Etsy are shipped by you, the seller. This means that you are mailing the product directly to the buyer yourself and handling everything from A to Z.

You can learn more about this topic at How To Sell On Etsy.

Sell Canva templates

Canva templates are a very popular product that businesses like to buy. This is because it makes life for business owners easier, as they don’t have to build an item from scratch. Instead, they can use a template and plug in what they need.

Think of these as pre-designed layouts that help businesses have professional-looking designs. They help save a lot of time over creating something from the very beginning.

A Canva template is a template for ebooks, planners, social media graphics (such as Pinterest pins), posters, business presentations, graphics, and so much more.

This is a skill that you can learn today, and you can earn money from home with this business.

Tutor online

Tutors help students improve in a subject that they are knowledgeable in, such as mathematics, language, science, graphic design, and more.

The path to becoming an online tutor depends on what kind of tutor that you want to become. You’ll have to have some kind of experience in whatever area it is that you are tutoring in. But, there are options for online tutoring jobs for beginners.

Tutoring on more advanced subjects, such as calculus or college entrance exams, tends to pay higher than other subjects. Another example is that you typically can get a higher rate if you are tutoring college graduate students over middle school students.

Tutors earn anywhere from $15 an hour to over $100 an hour. The rate you charge will most likely depend on the topic you are teaching, and the location of your tutoring services.
